You would not think a salumeria would be a good option for two vegetarians, but it was close to our hotel, and had such positive reviews, that we wanted to give it a try. The two women working that evening were very welcoming and kind. Of course, as a salumeria, their main focus is deli meats, but they had one or two attractive vegetarian options on their menu of sandwiches, and they had a nice gluten-free bun for my wife. A nice change of pace from pasta and pizza!

After walking up a nearly vertical hill on the Via Francigena from Monteriggioni to Siena, this was the first place we randomly found that looked good. For just over a euro, a cold aperol spritz was in my hand in minutes. We shared the large antipasto platter which was awesome, and I had the cacio e Pepe for lunch. An amazing value for the money and everything was delicious. As others have noted, the service was a little weird. One person was super nice, but our main waiter was very unfriendly and impatient with us. Still though--this place is great.

If you like local gems this is one! I highly suggest ordering the special, whatever it may be on that particular night! My ordered off the traditional menu and it was delicious as well. House wine was wonderful and paired well with the pasta. Great atmosphere! Owners are there chatting it up with the locals. Wonderful spot!

Great location near the gate to the old city. Friendly waiters. Great pasta. We had ravioli, tortalini and pici. All fresh.

Server refused service first saying reservation was needed while there were at least 8 empty tables on the night of July 31, 2017. Then changed his story once I started ask for his name. I think the fact that I am Asian was a factor for his initial denial of service. He was very loud while he was talking. Owner/manager David was cool(cold) to me that night. He was extremely warm to a lady who is local. (Xenophobia could be only skin deep in this lovely little town)
